Care & Maintenance
Deck Maintenance
- Deck Maintenance
A well-built deck is designed to perform for years. Regular care preserves both the finish and the underlying structure, extending the life of the installation.
Routine Cleaning
Sweep the surface regularly to prevent debris build-up between boards. A seasonal wash with mild soap, warm water, and a soft-bristle brush is sufficient for most installations.
Avoid pressure washing on high settings, which can damage the surface fibres of wood and erode the finish on composite materials.
Sealing & Refinishing (Wood)
Wood decks benefit from periodic sealing or staining to protect against moisture and UV exposure. The frequency depends on the material, exposure, and finish — typically every two to four years.
Composite decks generally do not require sealing, but should be cleaned according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Inspection
Annually inspect fasteners, railings, posts, and the structural connection to the home. Address any movement or loose hardware promptly to maintain safety and longevity.
Winter Considerations
Use a plastic shovel and avoid harsh ice melts that may damage the finish. Where possible, allow snow to melt naturally rather than chipping it away.
A Considered Approach
A platform designed to last
With routine attention, a well-built deck continues to feel solid and refined — supporting the way the space is used, year after year.
